Choosing the perfect location for your party tent

Hiring a venue ties you down to a place and other people’s rules. Hiring a tent or marquee means you get to choose where to have your party and what happens during it.

Whether it’s outside in your own garden, on a village green or in a farmer’s field, the decision is yours.

What size party tent do I need?

While much depends on the number of people you’re going to invite, you’ll also want to consider space to fit in any food buffets, bars, dance floors, DJ tables or separate areas for performers.

If in doubt, just go a bit larger.

DJ or live band, or both?

If you’re hiring a DJ you’ll need a robust, stable DJ table.

If you’re going with a band then you’ll need to give them enough space away from your quests to be able to perform.

Either way, one thing is for certain, you’ll need a dance floor.

Food and bar options…

It’s also a good idea to think about catering and what you’ll need in terms of furniture to be able to serve your guests comfortably.

And, of course: the bar. You don’t want to be running back and forth fetching drinks all night so it’s best to hire a bar unit and stock up on a range of drink options.

And that includes non-alcoholic ones too, of course!

It’s a good idea to start with the larger items first, what kind of seating do you want for your guests?

And you might not realise that you can actually choose from a number of different interior linings for your tent. Each individual style of lining will bring something a little different to the feel of the place.

Then think about the tables and the smaller decorations, perhaps some tea light candles and metal lanterns to create a really special atmosphere

If you’re looking for something a bit extra special, how about a mirror ball or even an artificial palm tree?

If you hire a bricks and mortar venue you’ll have a strict end time to adhere to.

So, perhaps the best reason for hiring a party tent and hosting yourself is that the party only ends, when it ends.
