Our brief guide to hiring a wedding marquee

Capacity & Space

• Much depends on the amount of wedding guests you’ll be catering for.
• Be sure to consider extra room for a bar area, disco, DJ and/or live bands.

Location & Pitch

• Once you’ve chosen a location, check to see if you need any permits or permission.
• For the actual pitch, find the flattest area possible with no overhanging trees or other obstructions.
• Ensure you’re not too far from a building or you’ll need an outdoor generator.
• Don’t forget to think about toilet facilities.

Style & Decor

• Establish a theme for your wedding, what do you want the marquee to look like from the outside and the all-important inside?
• Whichever theme you’ve chosen you’ll need to coordinate fixtures, fittings and soft furnishings.

Weather & Setup (& takedown!)

• If you’re getting married during one of the colder months in the UK, you’ll probably want to hire a heater or two.
• Also, make sure you get written confirmation that whoever you hire your marquee from that they’ll set it all up and take it down for you!
